BLOGGER OF THE MONTH - PROTIMA TIWARY

Dumbbells & Drama

Who is Protima Tiwary?
A content writer by day, a blogger by night. Hahhaha. I started off my career 5 years ago with digital advertising, slowly found my way to the content space. Couldn’t have been happier. I’ve been in Pune since 2000, and call it home

Quirks we should know about you?
I am mildly obsessive about to-do lists, watches, ShahRukh Khan and cupcakes.

How did you start blogging?
I loved writing, it was strangely therapeutic, and I started sharing short reviews of my food journeys and next thing you know i had brands calling me for collaborations. What started off as a food blog has now evolved into a lifestyle webspace.

Was your blog easily accepted by people in the beginning?
Yes it was accepted easily, though I was scared they won’t. Hahahaha. I still get a little hesitant sharing things, thinking it might get too vain. But I also know that I overthink and that if I need to take this to the next level I need to stop thinking :D

What is your favourite topic to blog about?
I love telling stories. If the stories involve food and the beach, I can be a master story teller :D Food, fitness and travel are the topics I talk about on the blog and my social media channels.

What does a good workout mean to you?
I enjoy swimming. On a day when I have nowhere to be, I can easily do 2000mts to get started. HIITs at home are convenient when I am running short on time. And when I am too bored to “exercise”, I run :D Weekends are for 2hour full body workouts at the gym. All workouts are good workouts.

What does fashion mean to you?
Ah. Meet me on a regular day and you will see how this question does not apply to me. I can be quite confident being a hobo most of the times, but when I do step out of the house, I’m either dressed up in tight dresses, or ripped jeans. So I guess fashion to me means expressing my mood. Oh also, I hate heels.

Your favorite material possessions?
LIPSTICKS! I can never leave the house without any lipstick on. Other than that, a kohl stick is found on me at all times. I love a lot of sweet smelling things, so the strawberry & blueberry range at Body Shop, and Victoria Secrets perfumes make their way to this list. AND! My Tissot watch. It’s my baby. I keep it guarded in a cupboard in a comfortable little box with velvet cushions and all that.

How often do you update your blog?
Neglected it for a while because of some personal issues, getting back to 3 times a week this November onwards.

A few do's and don't's when it comes to blogging.
Dos - proof check your work. Stick to a theme. PROOF CHECK YOUR GODDAMN WORK. Try getting your content to make sense. That’s the least you could do. A content strategy is a must. Don’t- try to cover everything and anything, you’ll lose focus. Do it for the passion, not for the glamour. The glamour is short lived. Content works. Talent works. Don't sell your soul for the temporary fame.

Is blogging an upcoming career option for the youngsters?
Yes, but sadly not immediately here in India. Not many get how blogging works. There's so much to learn!

What about blogging excites you?
It’s the fact that one can reach out to so many people, and share an experience with them in a personal manner. Right now I get a high because I realized people LIKED what I had to share. So I absolutely must take this opportunity to thank everyone who’s supported me :)

Take risks. They have a funny way of paying off. It might be 5 days, 5 weeks or 5 months, maybe even 5yrs before you see results, but if you are patient enough, risks are always a good idea :)
